Helpline

Helen

My name is Helen,

I experienced 12 years of fertility treatments and I co-founded NISIG 25 years ago after my second unsuccessful fertility treatment as I wanted to connect with others who were going through the heartbreak I was experiencing. I have manned the helpline since we first offer the service and am here to listen, support and give advice. The helpline is here to offer a safe space for anyone who would like to be listened to by our volunteers and is open to anyone in the public, not just our members.

Available anytime you need support.

Kirsty

Hi, my name is Kirsty,

I’ve been a NISIG member for some years. My partner and I spent eight years with a fertility clinic before taking the difficult decision to stop without having had a baby. We underwent countless tests, tried IUI, IVF, donor egg, steroids, intralipids….we really gave it our all. I understand the hope to despair cycle, the feeling that time is running out and the fear of it all not working. If you ring the helpline to speak with me I can be a listening, supportive, empathic ear. I don’t have all the answers, I won’t tell you what to do and I’m not a medical professional. I will do my best though to understand how the experience feels for you and hopefully help you to feel supported and listened to. Infertility can be lonely, frightening and isolating. NISIG volunteers supported me at some of my lowest times. I hope I can offer that support to you too if you need it.

I am available to talk on the helpline Mondays from 7pm- 9pm and Saturdays from 10am- 12pm.
