Cork Family Meet up August 2025

Thank you to all that turned out for the NISIG Family meet up in Cork on Sun 31st Aug 2025.
It was lovely to see lots of families and meet new people. One very brave couple came, who are considering going down the donor route, it was wonderful to meet them, to share our experiences and for them to see the children and parents doing just what families do. It’s not easy to go a family event, I know I would have struggled to attend such an event in the past.
What was also great we had a great mix of families; single mothers by choice, families with donor conceived children and families with children where one sibling is natural conception and other sibling is donor conceived. Nice to see several Dads in attendance and for them to have a chance to chat among themselves too.
The venue catered for mixed ages which was great as any babies could stay in the safe haven of their parents, the slightly older kids had great fun in the soft play and the older kids got to go bowling. Leaving the adults a chance to have a chat.
We met early in the summer in Fitzgerald’s park and now in Autumn so each time we meet the children will get to know each other more and more which is so important as they get older they will have friends who may share similar curiosity about donor conception.
Thank you to Michelle and Sarah who made the date happen.
Thank you most of all to Helen. I know I wouldn’t be where I am without you, and I know so many others who would echo those words. Helen is passionate about the children. Through these types of meet ups the parents get to form their own network and are able to provide support to each other as their families grow up.
We will keep you posted on our next Cork rendez vous.
