On December 19th, 2018, NISIG participated in a pre-legislative hearing on the General Scheme of the AHR Bill 2017, where much needed discussion, mostly around surrogacy and donor conception, was had. Among many other topics, the rights of donor conceived people, including via surrogacy, was widely explored.
This was a big step toward the realisation of long overdue legislation, the formation of the authority on AHR, and ultimately toward funding for AHR. As was stated during the hearing, there is likely to be further hearings to continue this pre-legislative scrutiny.
