Additional Treatments

 IVF With Donor Eggs

As natural fertility declines and the chance of success decreases, the option of donor egg treatment may be offered. This option may also benefit women who have premature ovarian failure, who are post chemotherapy, have poor egg quality or have not had success with previous IVF cycles.

In donor treatment eggs from another woman are used and fertilised with the male partner’s sperm. The resulting embryos are transferred back to the recipient’s womb, giving an increased chance of a successful outcome.

Blastocyst Transfer

Embryos can be transferred to the womb on day two or three, or alternatively the embryos can be cultured until day five or six. These embryos are known as blastocysts. The healthiest one or two blastocysts are chosen for transfer. This reduces the possibility of multiple births.

Natural Ways to Boost Fertility

No matter where you are in your quest to start a family, you can boost your fertility with a few lifestyle changes -reach your ideal weight, stop smoking, reduce your alcohol intake and follow a healthy diet.

Acupuncture for Infertility?

Acupuncture has shown promise in treating many conditions, ranging from asthma to headaches. Now some people are trying the popular form of Chinese medicine to address infertility. Research suggests acupuncture may improve sperm quality, improve blood flow to the uterus, normalize ovulation, and boost IVF success rates.

Moving On
If infertility treatments become a burden — physically, emotionally, or financially — it may be time to consider other alternatives. An infertility counselor can help you and your partner explore the options. Many couples are able to find satisfaction living without children. Others choose to build their family through adoption.
